Glen Iris Pantry

Glen Iris Pantry on Urbanspoon

We escaped into Glen Iris Pantry while the rain was bucketing down outside, typical Melbourne weather. Luckily there was an available table, looking across from the open fire. It is a quaint cafe where you can also purchase your milk and bread. A large assortment of fresh filled focaccias, tarts and cakes were available as well as your warm pies and sausage rolls.

I opted to try something new and chose the Chicken and Vegetable Borek ($6.95). Only a tiny bit spicy, this borek was full of lovely flavour and warm. The outside pastry was perfect and all the flavours were balanced well. Spoiling myself and my mother, we shared a New York Baked Cheesecake ($4.50) that looked homemade. The favours were perfect and easily banished any spice from the borek.

Although it was busy the warm drinks came quickly and were priced reasonably, $3.50 each. Personally I thought my Hot Chocolate was superb, and my mother told me the Coffee was 'good value and warm.'

Would definitely return again on a cold day for a chance to sit near the toasty fire.
